About Us
The Division has a membership of approximately 105 General Practitioners, 31 General Practices and services an area with a population of approximately 107,000. The offices of Central West Gippsland Division of General Practice Inc are located at 16 Kirk Street, Moe.
The Division is funded through the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing’s Primary Care Practice Support Branch and the headspace National Youth Mental Health Initiative. Key strategic goal of the organisation is to expand and diversify its streams of income.
Aim for the Division of General Practice:
To build on existing strengths and achievements in order to advance primary health care in the region
- Support general practitioners and their staff within a changing primary care environment
- Improve access to health services for communities
- Encourage integration and multi-disciplinary care to improve linkages with other parts of the health system such as hospitals, community care and aged care, by encouraging team based approaches and building partnerships at the local level
- Focus on prevention and early intervention
- Better manage chronic conditions
- Support quality and evidence based care, for example, by encouraging quality and the adoption of evidence based best practice
- Ensure a growing consumer focus, for example, by working closely with consumers and community organisations
