Aged Care Access Initiative

Central West Gippsland Division of General Practice has an active aged care program to support the linkage of general practice with aged care services. The main funded activity is the Aged Care Access Initiative (ACAI). Funding is provided by the Department of Health and Ageing to improve access to allied health clinical services for residents in aged care homes.

The allied health component of the Aged Care Access Initiative provides funding for payment for clinical care provided by allied health professionals to residents of aged care facilities where these services are not funded by Medicare or other government programs. This is managed on behalf of the Commonwealth by General Practice Victoria and delivered in conjunction with Divisions of General Practice

Central West Gipsland Division of General Practice has been allocated funding for clinical services until June 2011. The Division is currently funding foot care nurse specialist services, occupational therapy, podiatry and loss and grief counselling to residents of six aged care facilities at:

  • Tarago Views, Neerim South
  • Heritage Manor, Morwell
  • Latrobe Valley Village, Moe
  • Fairview Homes, Warragul
